4/14/08 - Dear GAWD!! I remember why I don't draw this character. At least he looks good... Best plate/scales I've done so far....
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Working on a new piece that I hope to make completely digital, but I got to sketch this one out first. Ranu is COVERED in massive, plated armor and I need to map them out beforehand, which can be quite a task b/c it can't limit his range of movement and still needs to be able to shed water. Here is the 4th sketch/pose I think I am going to continue with. Need to finish basic anatomy and then do the plates. I know the hands are crap. Please let me know if you see anything else glaring.
On one hand I fear him looking too anthromorphic, but the more I think about it the more a "human like body" makes since. He is extremely graceful and an amazing fighter. He stands tall but not fully erect like a human.
And my cat just finished chewing through the unplugged power adaptor cord to my NES/SNES emulator. WTF?!?! part of me wishes it was plugged in, because apparently now the rest of my cords are fair game!! At least give her a little shock to tell her no!!! ARGH!!!!! (it was a power adaptor... not a straight plug. just 120 volts. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr....) Maybe I can strip the wires and put it back together... idiots...
Now THAT sounds like fun! Drawing zoids was always fun, mapping it out and then covering it with workable bits of armor and massive guns and all other sorts of arsenal Can't wait to see this!
Love the pose. Curious how the plates are going to work. Then tell Ranu to WAP kitty in the head for chewing your cords. Evil kitty megamorph! You should draw them battling for the magical power adaptor cord. Whoever wins it will have complete control over New York City's power supply... MUAHA HAHAH!
Many of the plates won't be uber big in the picture... but he is a friggin massive dragon, so whatever. He does need to be fully plated though besides the back of major joints (arms, elbows, shoulders... etc). I'm kind of curious to see how they will work too... but they also have to look organic, because they grew on him. ^^
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
